Get Clarity

six steps to brand clarity

1. Get clear on your vision

Did you know that athletes spend significant time visioning. Feeling how it feels to win, hearing the crowds cheer, accepting their medal. Would you take a road trip without a map? It’s important to know where you’re going.

2. Get clear on your ideal client, customer or audience

So many people tell me “it’s everyone” and my answer is “it’s not everyone.” Start getting focused on who you’re talking to – their mindset, their challenges, what matters most to them.

3. Get clear on your competition

Almost every business has competition and it’s important to take a good look at how they talk about themselves and then figure out how you can be different.

4. Get insights from your client or customer

If you’d like to know what’s on your client or customer’s mind, then ask them. Develop a questionnaire and interview them.

5. Develop a clear and compelling message using steps 1-4

Using the above steps you can start to put together a statement that says: who your audience is, what you do for them, how you are different and the benefits of hiring you or buying your product. This statement should guide your marketing efforts going forward.

6. Bring your brand to life!

Hire a graphic designer or barter services – make sure that your marketing tools do a good job at bringing your difference to life. Marketing is about “getting the word out” and branding is about “knowing what the word is.” Tremendous sums of money are focused on getting the word out without a differentiated message.
