Back to the Future Moments
When nothing worked for anxiety
Around my 40th birthday, I developed anxiety. I was anxious all the time about every little thing. It was hard to go anywhere or do anything except work. The work forced me to focus, and I’d feel calmer, and interestingly, I wrote a book and did some amazing work during that time. I tried everything under the sun to feel better. I studied mindfulness and meditation and read every personal growth book out there. I spoke to therapists, rabbis, priests, naturopaths, and acupuncturists. I went to a very famous orthomolecular specialist on Vancouver Island who told me that food allergies were the cause and I stopped eating almost everything. I even tried medication, which only made it worse.
I got my amalgam fillings out, had my house wired so I wouldn’t need Wi-Fi, and put EMF-protection blinds on the windows. I tried yoga, Feng Shui, and prayer. I was determined. When I think back now, it’s almost humorous, but it wasn’t funny at the time.
Enter Dr. Terrie Hope
Enter Dr. Terrie Hope. A friend suggested I take one of her classes. It was great. I told her about my anxiety, and I had several physical issues that were happening because of the stress. She said she could help.
I started working with her, doing private facilitation sessions, and she also did biofeedback and biophoton sessions to help my body get more balanced. I started getting clear of the stuff that was causing the anxiety; it wasn’t therapy or mindset work, it was something entirely different. It was like taking a magic eraser and poof, the thing that was so upsetting in the past had no charge anymore. I started feeling better, and my physical issues started to disappear.
My LinkedIn Story
Around that time, I was using LinkedIn to sell my online courses. It suddenly stopped working. I contacted LinkedIn, and they said no one else was having this problem and that everything should be working fine, but it wasn’t. After a few days of this, I wasn’t sure what to do, so I booked a session with Terrie. What came up in the session was “fear of success,” and I was the one who was stopping LinkedIn. We spent one hour clearing stuff around “fear of success.” One hour later, LinkedIn worked again. I realized then that we are stopping ourselves in so many ways that we have no idea about. Most people don’t know what’s holding them back. It’s not conscious.
When Marty McFly wakes up the next day
There have been many more experiences like this. I call them “Back-To-The-Future” moments. Remember in the movie when Marty gets up the next day, and his parents are cool, and have a nice house? That is the kind of change I’ve been creating since I’ve worked with Terrie Hope. I have a session about some situation, and after I go back to it, it’s changed. The work with Terrie internalizes the change so it becomes part of who you are. Not something you need to think about. It’s not cognitive.

Unwinding the limitations of the past
I’ve discovered that life can be so much greater and I can make choices without the limitations of the past holding me back. Other friends who work with her have experienced the same.
And as for anxiety. I’m good now. If I have the odd day where I’m not good, I know there is something under the covers that I need to look at. My life has changed a lot. All my relationships have improved. I enjoy life more; I have greater appreciation for food and beauty and nature; I sleep well every night, and I feel much healthier. I’m now aware of the endless possibilities there are out there.
Terrie is busy travelling the world. Lecturing, teaching new methods for stress and burnout, performance and regeneration, speaking and doing research studies on how the brain works.
I’m going after more all the time, and have some things I want to change and get unstuck about. I’ve convinced her to facilitate a program called “Changing Tracks” for 3 days of her precious time. It’ll be live in Toronto or online. I’ll be taking that class for sure. Maybe you’d like to join me?
Is there something you’d really like to change but haven’t been able to so far?
